The return of World Cup winner Mario Götze from Bayern München to Bundesliga rivals Borussia Dortmund is official. Both clubs confirmed this on Thursday, 21st July. Götze is under contract with BVB until 2020.
Germany’s 2014 World Cup final hero - scorer of the winning goal against Argentina in Rio - moved to Bayern München from Dortmund in 2013 for a transfer fee of 37 million Euro.
He was, however, unable to establish himself properly at the record champions, and now, with one year remaining on his contract, he is returning home. Götze is a product of the Borussia Dortmund academy and made his Bundesliga debut for the club in 2009.
