Germany head coach Christian Wück has named his 24-player squad for the upcoming internationals against Australia on Friday, 9th October (20:30 CEST) and Japan on Tuesday, 13th October (17:45 CEST). The games in Karlsruhe and Bremen will also mark the start of the new season for the Germany women’s national team.

Arsenal’s 19-year-old Lisa Baum has received her first senior Germany call-up, while captain Giulia Gwinn (FC Bayern München) returns to the squad. Franziska Kett (FC Bayern München), Cora Zicai (VfL Wolfsburg) and goalkeeper Laura Dick (TSG Hoffenheim) are also back in the squad. After a lengthy spell on the sidelines through injury, Bibiane Schulze Solano (Athletic Bilbao) has been called up for the first time since November 2025.

Wück will be without defenders Kathrin Hendrich (1. FC Köln) and Rebecca Knaak (Manchester City) through injury. Nicole Anyomi (London City) is still working her way back to full fitness and is also unavailable, while goalkeeper Ann-Katrin Berger (Gotham FC) will sit out the two upcoming internationals following discussions with the coaching staff.

Baum “earned her place in the squad with her performances”

On Baum’s first call-up, Wück said: “Lisa has earned her place in the squad with her performances in pre-season and Arsenal’s first four games of the campaign. The move from Germany to England clearly seems to have done her a lot of good. She’s showing that being young and playing freely can go hand in hand with producing good performances.”

On Schulze Solano’s return, the head coach said: “We’re delighted to have Bibi back and to finally get the chance to see her play for the national team under our coaching staff. She’s fit, completed almost the whole of pre-season in Spain and, as a left-footer, gives us something particularly valuable in defence. We hope she can reproduce the strong performances she’s been showing in Spain for us as well.”

Wück: “These are exactly the games we need”

Germany will begin their season against two strong opponents. Wück said: “Australia and Japan are two very good sides with a lot of quality. These are exactly the kind of games we need to keep developing as a team and take the next steps forward.”

Almost 23,000 tickets have already been sold for the game against Australia at the BBBank Wildpark in Karlsruhe, while more than 20,000 have been snapped up for the meeting with Japan at Bremen’s Weserstadion. For fans in Bremen, the latter will round off two days of Germany women’s football in the city, with the Germany U23s also taking on Sweden there on Monday, 12th October.
