DFB.net: Mr. Klopp, how much did you enjoy your first win?

Jürgen Klopp: I really enjoyed it. From the first minute, right up until the last. We took control of the game from the very first second and put the opposition under pressure. We were capable of scoring even more goals. It was a perfect evening.

DFB.net: What were the reasons for the convincing win?

Klopp: We were outstanding when we didn’t have the ball, and played wonderful football when we did. We can take any risk in the world when our gegenpressing is off the scale. And it certainly was off the scale. It was exceptionally good. That performance now has to be the baseline. I’ll put that in my archive – it shows the lads how it can be done.

DFB.net: How do you assess Florian Wirtz’s performance?

Klopp: He was brimming with enthusiasm and worked incredibly hard. It was exceptional; he had a great game. Our style of play suits Flo Wirtz. I’ve got no idea what more Flo has to do to make everyone happy. Everyone in Liverpool should be happy today.

DFB.net: Why did Wirtz fit in so well with Pavlovic and Bischof?

Klopp: There aren’t specific players that Flo Wirtz needs to play with. We can play a certain style of football in different formations. Our football has to stay consistent, but the formation can’t because there will always be players who get injured.

DFB.net: Why was the performance against Serbia better than the one against Greece?

Klopp: We had no time to fine-tune our tactics before the game against Greece. There were good phases of play, but they weren’t long enough. The squad has had a lot more training sessions now. We could put our tactics into practice today. We played in the spaces that we needed to. The lads were up for a fight today.

DFB.net: How are you going to celebrate the win?

Klopp: I’ve got no idea. I’ve never won a game as the Germany head coach before. If I was still a club head coach then I’d know. Do we have beer on the bus, actually? We won’t be celebrating, though. We’re all tired and to recharge.

DFB.net: Mika Baur is the 1,000th player to make an appearance for Germany and several other players also made their debut in the first few games. How do you evaluate their performances?

Klopp: Baur is an amazing player. Insanely clever, with an unbelievable technical ability. We need a huge number of players as we look to the future together.

DFB.net: What did you think of the atmosphere in the stadium?

Klopp: The flags, the Mexican wave – it was marvellous. That really warmed my heart and it’s just what we need. It’s nice that we were able to create a highlight for the fans.

DFB.net: Is the team now ready for the second game against Greece on Sunday?

Klopp: After this victory, we’re more confident that we can win the next game as well.
