Füllkrug and Mohya included as Klopp names squad for Serbia and Netherlands

Niclas Füllkrug is back in the Germany squad. The Werder Bremen striker, who has won 24 caps for Germany and currently leads the Bundesliga scoring charts with nine goals this season, was included in coach Jürgen Klopp’s 24-man squad for the final two UEFA Nations League group games against Serbia and the Netherlands, announced on Thursday. Klopp has also handed Borussia Mönchengladbach youngster Wael Mohya his first senior call-up, with the midfielder having previously represented Germany at U21 level.
Speaking to DFB.TV, Jürgen Klopp said: “I’m really looking forward to our next two games. We’ve got a good mix of youth and experience in the squad. After naming 44 players in September, it was difficult to narrow things down because – and this is actually the good news – there are more players who deserve to be involved. But that’s exactly how it should be. The more quality you have at your disposal, the harder those decisions become, and that’s a good problem to have.”
The Germany squad will meet up at DFB partner adidas’ headquarters in Herzogenaurach on Monday. Germany will first travel to Belgrade to face Serbia on Friday, 13th November (20:45 CET), before hosting group leaders the Netherlands at Berlin’s Olympiastadion on Monday, 16th November (20:45 CET). Klopp’s side beat Serbia 2-0 in Munich in October, while their first meeting with the Netherlands ended in a 1-1 draw in Amsterdam in September.
