World Cup qualifying: Germany women to face Norway, Austria and Slovenia

In their quest to secure a spot at the 2027 World Cup, the Germany women’s national team will come up against Norway, Austria and Slovenia in Group A4 of the Women’s European Qualifiers. The groups were drawn today at an event at the UEFA Headquarters in Nyon, Switzerland. The exact dates and kick-off times for the fixtures are yet to be confirmed.
Qualifying for the upcoming World Cup in Brazil will begin in early 2026. The Women's European Qualifiers follow on from the Nations League and will take place between February and December next year, in order to determine which UEFA teams will claim a place at the final competition in the summer of 2027. Each side will play six games between February and June 2026, competing home and away against the other three teams in the group.
Four group winners earn direct qualification
The starting league position of each team is decided according to results in the 2025 UEFA Women’s Nations League. As a result of Germany’s strong performances in the competition, head coach Christian Wück’s team are set up in good standing to claim a spot at the 2027 World Cup.
The four group winners from League A will directly qualify for the World Cup in Brazil. The remaining eight UEFA spots for the competition, comprising seven confirmed allocations and one inclusion in the inter-confederation play-offs in February 2027, will be decided by two play-off rounds in October and November/December next year.
