Three newcomers and four returnees called up for Nations League semi-finals

Head coach Christian Wück has announced his Germany squad list for the upcoming UEFA Women’s Nations League semi-final games against France on 24th (17:45 CEST) and 28th October (21:10 CET).
After all spending extended periods sidelined due to injury, captain Giulia Gwinn and midfielder Lena Oberdorf (both FC Bayern München) as well as central defender Bibiane Schulze Solano (Athletic Club) make a return to the women’s national team as the crucial games approach. Eintracht Frankfurt forward Nicole Anyomi also comes back into the Germany set-up, having been named in the 23-woman squad. Receiving their inaugural call-ups this month are goalkeeper Laura Dick (TSG Hoffenheim), Camilla Küver (VfL Wolfsburg) and Shekiera Martinez (West Ham United), all of whom recently represented Germany at U23 level.
Wück: “Give it everything we’ve got”
Goalkeeper Ann-Katrin Berger (Gotham FC) is unavailable for selection due to a knee injury, while centre-forward Giovanna Hoffmann (RB Leipzig) suffered an ACL tear on the weekend and will be out for the foreseeable future. In addition, centre-backs Sophia Kleinherne (VfL Wolfsburg) and Rebecca Knaak (Manchester City) also miss out due to fitness issues. Kleinherne is still working through a rehabilitation programme following a thigh problem, while Knaak is still yet to make it back on the pitch following a meniscus injury.
Head coach Christian Wück said: “We’re really looking forward to both legs of the semi-final tie with France. Each game will be incredibly challenging. We’ve had to implement a few changes in the squad as a result of some injuries. At the same time though, it’s a great chance to give new players the opportunity to prove themselves at the highest level. Some players haven’t recovered to quite the extent we were hoping, and so we had to take that into account when selecting the squad. Against France, we’re going to have to give it everything we’ve got. That being said, the magnitude of the task makes it all the more exciting to be able to count on an incredible atmosphere and the support of the fans in Düsseldorf.”
33,000 tickets sold
On Monday, the women’s national team will assemble in Düsseldorf to kick off preparations for the first leg of the UEFA Women’s Nations League semi-final against France. The squad will start the week with a public training session at the Paul-Janes-Stadion. Entry is free of charge, although tickets must be booked in advance via the DFB-Ticketportal.
The semi-final first leg, for which 33,000 tickets have already been sold, will take place on 24th October at the Merkur Spiel-Arena in Düsseldorf (kick-off 17:45 CEST). Tickets can still be purchased via the DFB-Ticketportal. The return leg will be played on 28th October at the Stade Michel-d'Ornano in Caen (kick-off 21:10 CET).
