Kimmich: "With six minutes gone, we should have been 3-0 up"

Despite a plethora of first-half chances, the Germany national team suffered a 2-0 defeat at the hands of France, meaning they finish ultimately the Nations League in fourth place. DFB.de has rounded up the post-match reaction.
Julian Nagelsmann: If you look at the chances created and pattern of the game, then the loss is undeserved. However, goals are unfortunately what matter. We saw what we are capable of once again in that first half, but when you create four or five big chances, you have to take the lead. We sort of shot ourselves in the foot in the second period because you are obviously going to get countered now and then. We did well overall, though. It’s important that we create chances, although we also need to capitalise on them. Today’s match was good – not in terms of the result, but in terms of the performance.
Joshua Kimmich: Looking at the first half, with six minutes gone, we should have been 3-0 up. We were then unfortunate to go into the break 1-0 down but lost our structure too soon after the restart, becoming too impatient in possession. That made the game ideal for France.
Niclas Füllkrug: I thought we brought positive energy to the contest. We faced a team who possess an extremely high level of quality. It was really unlucky that we didn’t go ahead and that would have seen the match head in a very different direction, for sure. Nevertheless, we performed well, on the whole. We went blow-for-blow with a side that looks to win every title they play for. We controlled much of things and gave a good showing, overall.
Karim Adeyemi: We obviously wanted to win and could have done just that but weren’t able to use a good handful of attacking chances today.
