One newcomer and five returnees set to face Luxembourg and Northern Ireland

The Germany men’s national team has revealed the 24-man squad list set to face Luxembourg and Northern Ireland in World Cup Qualifying fixtures, with one new addition and five previously capped players making up the six changes to the last squad.
On Thursday this week, national side head coach Julian Nagelsmann announced that Eintracht Frankfurt defender Nathaniel Brown is being called up to the senior Germany team for the first time. This summer, Brown played a key role in the Germany U21 side that reached the final of the European Championship in Slovakia. In addition to the 22-year-old’s inaugural inclusion, five players will return to action with the national team, namely Brown’s Frankfurt teammate Jonathan Burkardt, Aleksandar Pavlović of Bayern München, Borussia Dortmund’s Nico Schlotterbeck and Felix Nmecha as well as Ridle Baku of RB Leipzig.
Head coach Julian Nagelsmann said: “We have a clear goal – two wins from two, in order to get firmly back on track in our World Cup qualifying campaign. Even though some players are unable to join us for this international break, we’re absolutely convinced that the squad has enough quality to do better than we did last time out. After losing Toni Rüdiger, it’s so important that we have Nico Schlotterbeck back with us. In Nene Brown, we’ll also have a real talent at our disposal in the defensive department. I’m looking forward to walking out into the sold-out stadium in Sinsheim, a place that has a special place in my heart, and I’m excited for an electric atmosphere and a great game when we travel to Belfast, taking lots of Germany fans along with us.”
The national side will convene at the adidas Home Ground in Herzogenaurach on Monday, before taking on Luxembourg at a sold-out PreZero Arena in Sinsheim on Friday, 10th October (20:45 CEST). Nagelsmann’s team will then travel to Belfast to face Northern Ireland on Monday, 13th October (20:45 CEST).
