German FA Confirms Strengthened Commitment to Women’s Football

At the German Football Association (DFB) General Assembly on Friday, 7th November 2025, leaders across German football reaffirmed the organisation’s leadership and commitment to advancing women’s football across Germany.
Notably, the Assembly confirmed a new €100 million investment to professionalise the Google Pixel Women’s Bundesliga, Germany’s premier women’s league. The investment will see a company established to oversee the league and work alongside clubs to develop new infrastructure and commercial growth opportunities across the country.
The Assembly also saw the DFB re-elect Bernd Neuendorf as President for four more years, extending his mandate to guide German football through a period of growth, innovation and continued transformation. Among Neuendorf’s priorities as President has been the implementation of the DFB’s Women in Football strategy (FF27), and Germany’s bid to host the UEFA Women’s EURO 2029, which will be decided by UEFA in December.
In a landmark move, Heike Ullrich was elected Vice President of Women’s and Girls’ Football, reflecting the significance of the women’s game to the DFB. Ullrich will be succeeded as General Secretary by Holger Blask, previously Chairman of the DFB Management Board.
DFB President Bernd Neuendorf said during the Assembly: “This year, the German Football Association (DFB) proudly celebrates its 125th anniversary. Even in this milestone year, our clubs across the regional associations have become younger and more female. The potential within women’s and girls’ football remains immense, and we are determined to unlock it further. With our bid to host the UEFA Women’s EURO 2029, we aim to accelerate this positive development and set new benchmarks for the game. This past summer, we witnessed an inspiring European Championship in Switzerland. In 2029, we intend to bring that same passion to Germany, establishing new standards for women’s football and welcoming one million fans into our stadiums.”
