Bernd Neuendorf re-elected as DFB president

Bernd Neuendorf has been re-elected as president of the German Football Association (DFB). He received unanimous backing from all 253 voting delegates at the first DFB Bundestag to be held at the DFB Campus on Friday in Frankfurt am Main. Ahead of the 45th Ordinary DFB Bundestag, Neuendorf had been unanimously proposed for a second term by representatives from across German football, including the DFB’s regional and state associations and the DFL Deutsche Fußball-Liga.
Bernd Neuendorf commented: “We’ve used the past legislative period to stabilise and consolidate the DFB across the board – atmospherically, financially, in terms of content and sporting matters. The DFB has restored its reputation. We’re once again a reliable partner – for the DFL, for our state associations, for political institutions, for international federations and our commercial partners. We stand once again for solid work and clear direction. We can be proud of what we’ve achieved together at the DFB and in German football – especially in our 125th anniversary year. But we mustn’t become complacent or unambitious. We don’t just want to manage – we want to shape the future. A DFB executive committee is not elected for what it has done in the past. It’s elected above all for the future it sets out, for what it plans to achieve. That’s why we recently adopted DFB Strategy 2030 – the first overarching strategy for the organisation. We will implement it consistently and align all our actions with it.”
Neuendorf’s new term extends the presidency he began with his election at the 44th Ordinary Bundestag in Bonn on 11th March 2022. Prior to that, he served as president of the Middle Rhine Football Association (FVM) and vice-president of the Western German Football Association (WDFV). Neuendorf is the 14th president in DFB history and represents German football on the Council of FIFA, the sport’s global governing body, as a UEFA delegate.
