Last international before the World Cup against USA in Chicago

Germany’s men’s national team will face hosts USA in their final international before the start of the 2026 FIFA World Cup. The match against the United States, who are co-hosting the tournament with Mexico and Canada, will take place on 6th June 2026 at Soldier Field in Chicago, kicking off at 20:30 CEST (13:30 local time). The 61,500-capacity arena, which is not one of the 16 World Cup venues, is home to MLS side Chicago Fire.
Before departing for the World Cup, Germany will face Finland in Mainz on 31st May 2026 (from 20:45). The DFB-Team will then travel from Frankfurt to Chicago to prepare for the tournament and for their final international. The day after the game against the USA, the squad will move into their team base camp for the competition.
Positive record against the USA
Germany have faced the USA, currently 14th in the FIFA world ranking, twelve times. The DFB-Team have won eight of those meetings, most recently the 3-1 victory on 14th October 2023 in Hartford, Connecticut – the first match under national team coach Julian Nagelsmann. The USA have won four games.
In March 2026, the national team will play two further internationals, including the match in Stuttgart on 30th March against Africa Cup of Nations holders Ivory Coast.
The World Cup will get under way on 11th June with Mexico’s opening group game in Mexico City, while the USA begin their campaign a day later in Los Angeles. Germany will find out their group opponents when the draw takes place on Friday, 5th December, in Washington, D.C.
