Women's World Player of the Year: Sasic in the final three

The European Player of the Year Celia Sasic has remained in the running for the title of FIFA World Player of the Year 2015. The attacker is in the final three alongside Aya Miyama of Japan and Carli Lloyd of the USA. Nadine Angerer, who was included in the final ten nominees, was not selected for the final three.

World Cup winners Toni Kroos (Real Madrid), Thomas Müller and Manuel Neuer (both FC Bayern München) were all in the 23-man shortlist for the men's FIFA World Player of the Year award, but failed to be selected for the final three for the FIFA Ballon d'Or gala, to be held on 11th January 2016. The current holder Cristiano Ronaldo (Portugal & Real Madrid), long-term rival Lionel Messi (Argentina & FC Barcelona) and Neymar (Brazil & FC Barcelona) will go head-to head for the final title.

There is also no German involvement in the vote for the World Coach of the Year. FC Bayern München are represented in the men's category through Pep Guardiola, who is up against compatriot Luis Enrique (FC Barcelona) and the Argentinean coach of the Chile national side, Jorge Sampaoli. The women's award will definitely go to the coach of a national side, with Jill Ellis (USA), Mark Sampson (England) and Norio Sasaki (Japan) in contention. Thomas Wörle (FC Bayern München) was nominated but failed to make it to the final selection, as was the case with his English counterpart Colin Bell of 1. FFC Frankfurt.
