"United by football - In the heart of Europe" is the motto accompanying the German Football Association’s (DFB) bid to host UEFA EURO 2024. When the slogan was presented, DFB president Reinhard Grindel told: “Our bid for the 2024 European Championship should stand as a symbol of football’s unique power to integrate. Football excludes no one, it transcends borders. It unifies, it is something that brings together people from completely different nationalities and different beliefs, from all different areas of society."
The bid for the European Championship has its own digital home on the campaign website. On www.united-by-football.de, every fan can upload their own photo using the hashtag #UnitedByFootball on their social media networks, in order to show their support for Germany’s EURO bid and play an active role, from the beginning, in helping bring the European Championship to Germany.
DFB general secretary Dr. Friedrich Curtius: "It’s not just the European Championship bringing people from all over the world together. Even our bid is a collaborative project, that can only succeed as a joint effort, in collaboration with the host cities, with whom we are currently compiling and putting together application documents for UEFA. With the support of all German football, from the top right down to the bottom, and the wider backing from society, we want to convince UEFA to award the EUROs to Germany for a second time since 1988."
