Scoreless tie between Germany and England

The third and last game of the German women in Guangzhou (China) had the same final score as the first two appearances. Germany against England ended in a scoreless tie, just as the games against the USA and China.

For the game versus England, Germany's last game at the "Four Nations' Cup", the German players wore a crape, commemorating DFB Vice President Werner Hackmann, who had passed away on Sunday. With a small crowd of only 2500 fans watching, coach Silvia Neid's team had a hard time getting into the game. Stephanie Ullrich replaced the injured goalkeeper Silke Rottenberg, who had torn a ligament on Saturday. Playing her second international, Ullrich was granted no warm-up phase. After only two minutes, she had to block a shot by Kelly Smith. Then Jill Scott's header missed the German goal only narrowly (14.).

But the reigning World Champions fought back. Fatmire Bajramaj broke free, but was stopped when she tried to fire a shot on the English goal (35.). Anja Mittag's freekick from 18 meters then hit the crossbar (40.).

In a duel with Scott, Bajramaj suffered a shoulder injury and had to leave the field. The injury was stabilised. The shoulder will be x-rayed back in Germany on Wednesday.

Following halftime, both teams showed the effect of having played three games within the last five days. Chances were few, while both teams chose a slower pace. Okoyino da Mbabi had the best opportunity, but missed a long crossing pass by a few inches.

The final outcome of the tournament will be decided by the only remaining game between China and the USA.
