Reus scores brace in Dortmund victory at Bremen

Borussia Dortmund reduced FC Bayern München's lead at the top of the table to five points following their 3-1 victory at SV Werder Bremen on Bundesliga matchday 11. Germany international Marco Reus scored twice for Thomas Tuchel's side, whilst Borussia Mönchengladbach secured their sixth straight league victory at Hertha BSC to continue their climb in the standings.

FC Schalke 04 on the other hand suffered a set-back after being held to a 1-1 home draw by newly-promoted side FC Ingolstadt. Germany youngster Leroy Sané scored the equaliser for S04.

Bottom side FC Augsburg were left disappointed after a 3-3 home draw with FSV Mainz 05. Yoshinori Muto, who scored all three goals, equalised in the dying seconds of the game to earn Mainz a point. Huub Stevens' first game in charge at TSG 1899 Hoffenheim ended in a 0-0 draw at 1. FC Köln.

Hummels assist's Mkhitaryan's goal

Marco Reus fired Dortmund into the lead just nine minutes into the game at Bremen's Weserstadium, but the hosts responded and were back level shortly after the half-hour mark as Anthony Ujah scored the equaliser. Shortly before half-time, World Champion Mats Hummels played a superb pass with the outside of his foot to Henrikh Mkhitaryan, who restored the lead for the visitors. Bremen were unable to rally back in the second half and Dortmund extended their advantage after 70 minutes when Reus bagged his second of the day.

Two goals in two minutes for Gladbach

Berlin's Olympic Stadium hosted 58,566 spectators as Hertha hosted Gladbach and the Foals immediately looked to take control of the match. André Schubert's men deservedly took the lead through Oscar Wendt after 26 minutes, before Raffael doubled their advantage just moments later.

Hertha tried to bounce back and created a few decent chances but failed to pull a goal back as Gladbach took a 2-0 lead into half-time. Ten minutes into the second half Gladbach were leading by three, as Granit Xhaka converted from the spot. Alexander Baumjohann scored for Hertha from the penalty spot with less than ten minutes to play, but Havard Nordtveit restored Gladbach's three goal lead in stoppage time.

Sané goal gives Schalke a point

Hosts Schalke were the more active team, but were unable to break down Ingolstadt, mainly due to a lack of precision in the final third. Against the run of play, Ingolstadt took the lead through Tobias Levels five minutes before half time. A second-half goal from Germany U21s international Leroy Sané salvaged a point for Schalke.

Augsburg rollercoaster ride in 3-3 draw

It was a classic away performance from Mainz in Augsburg, with the hosts having more of the game but the visitors striking clinically to take a 2-0 lead after two goals from Yoshinori Muto. Augsburg's Paul Verhaegh pulled one back from the spot shortly before half-time and five minutes after the restart the score was level as Ja-Cheol Koo made it 2-2. Things went from bad to worse for Augsburg when Raúl Bobadilla fired the hosts into the lead with less than ten minutes to play, but there was no stopping Muto as he scored the 3-3 equaliser deep in stoppage time.

No goals during Stevens' debut

The spectators in the Rhein-Energie-Stadium were not spoiled with a high quality match. Both sides struggled to create chances in the first half and neither side looked like finding the net. Köln's Anthony Modeste had the best chance in the second half but missed the target, as Huub Stevens collects a point in his first game in charge of Hoffenheim.
