Tonight’s DFB Cup quarter-final clash between Lotte and BVB has been called off after referee Felix Brych deemed the pitch unplayable following heavy snowfall. A decision will be made on when the match will be rescheduled for on Wednesday.
"I could not guarantee the safety of the players," explained Brych. "The pitch was soaked through and the players did not have a secure surface to play on. The snowfall one hour before the game was heavy and the pitch would have been torn up after 15 minutes. Both clubs fully support my decision."
The draw for the semi-finals will still take place on Wednesday following the fourth quarter-final between Bayern München and Schalke 04.
