Neuer is World's Best Goalkeeper in 2014

World champion Manuel Neuer has been chosen as the World's Best Goalkeeper for the second successive year. The German national team’s goalkeeper received 216 points in the poll published by the International Federation of Football History & Statistics (IFFHS), 120 more than the Belgian Thibaut Courtois who came in second place with 96 points. Keylor Navas from Costa Rica came in third place with a total of 46 points.

Neuer has already been voted by Germany’s sports journalists as Germany’s Footballer of the Year, by the French daily sports newspaper L'Equipe as World Footballer of the Year and by German fans as Germany’s Player of the Tournament at the World Cup in Brazil. Neuer is also up for the award of World Footballer of the Year alongside the Portuguese Cristiano Ronaldo and the Argentine Lionel Messi as well as for the position of goalkeeper in the FIFA World XI. Both of the awards will be announced by FIFA at the gala in Zurich on Monday.
