Leipzig miss out on chance to go second

RB Leipzig missed out on the chance to go second in the 2. Bundesliga after only managing to draw 0-0 with SV Sandhausen. 1. FC Kaiserslautern beat FC St. Pauli 3-1 whilst FSV Frankfurt won 2-0 in the Allianz Arena against TSV 1860 München.

Leipzig lost central defender Tim Sebastian to injury in the 15th minute and were made to work for the point by a plucky Sandhausen side who made life difficult for the visitors. The point means that the newly promoted side remain just one point off second position; they are currently sixth.

Kaiserslautern impressed once again as they leaped to fourth place in the table. Germany U21 international Amin Younes gave them a 22nd minute lead before Jean Zimmer doubled it eight minutes later. Marcel Halstenberg got one back for St. Pauli shortly before the hour mark but any hopes of a comeback were extinguished with three minutes left to play when Sebastian Jacob fired home a third for the visiting side. The defeat means the side from Hamburg drop to the foot of the table after 15 games.

1860 München occupy 15th placed in the table after their 2-0 defeat to FSV Frankfurt. FSV took the lead shortly before the break though Zlatko Dedic (44’) and Mario Engels wrapped up the victory in the final minute of regulation time.
