LEGO to become licensed partner of the DFB

In the LEGO collection, there are around five million different figures. This is one of the largest collections in the world but it is about to grow, receiving some new arrivals this EURO 2016 year in the form of a national team of their own: the current World Cup winners, Die Mannschaft.

At a toy convention in Nuremberg, the partnership between LEGO and the DFB was unveiled. "Together with the DFB, we are planning to launch a new range of Germany national team LEGO figures, which will become available in May. It will excite fans both young and old," said Joanna Katharina Lazar, LEGO’s marketing vice president.

The LEGO team will be made up of 16 figures. An announcement will be made in the spring as to which players and staff will feature in the team. The special edition range will be made available to the public from 14th May 2016. When bought, they will come in special bags that only reveal the identity of the figure on opening. The RRP of the figures will be €2.99.

"Children have grown up playing with LEGO bricks for generations and over the years, the producers have constantly been expanding the range. The variety and creative opportunities that LEGO products offer is fascinating. I am delighted that DFB and Die Mannschaft will join the toy world and I am sure that there will be many fans of this line," said DFB marketing director Denni Strich.
