Infront acquires DFB Cup marketing rights

The Presidential Board of the Deutsche Fußball-Bund (DFB) has granted the centralised rights for stadium perimeter advertising at all matches of the DFB German cup to the Swiss agency Infront Sports & Media. “Until now, only the few live-broadcasts had a commerical significance. But starting this season, all 63 games of the DFB Pokal are shown live on television”, said Wolfgang Niersbach, the DFB General Secretary. “Offering the marketing rights on a centralised basis was the logical next step.”

The DFB had tendered the rights for the 2009-2010 season until the 2011-2012 season. 13 parties send in their applications. Niersbach commented on the final decision: “Infront forwarded the most lucrative offer. We are happy to continue this proven partnership, as we have just extended our contracts regarding the national team until 2014.”
