Ilkay Gündogan leads City to victory with first goal in 410 days

Ilkay Gündogan finally found himself back on the scoresheet after 410 days. The oft-injured Germany international scored a header in Manchester City’s rampant 4-1 victory over fellow Champions League competitors Tottenham Hotspur. He was assisted by a perfect corner from Germany teammate Leroy Sané. Gündogan also managed to get his first assist of the season after he picked out a surging Kevin de Bruyne who doubled their lead (70’). It was City’s 16th win in a row, which built on their existing Premier League record and their position at the top of the table. Manchester United and Chelsea are their closest competitors, and yet they trail the league leaders by 14 points.

Özil shines with wonder goal

Mesut Özil helped his side to a 1-0 win over Newcastle United in the Premier League this afternoon. In the 23rd minute, the World Cup winner struck a sweet volley from the edge of the penalty area into the roof of the net.

Özil has been involved in six goals in Arsenal’s last five home games and almost added further to that tally but his effort was prevented by goalkeeper Rob Elliot.

Arsenal now lie in fourth place – five points behind Antonio Rudiger’s Chelsea who won 1-0 against Southampton.
