Huth breaks Premier League record with 269 games

His Leicester City side are storming at the top of the English Premier League, whilst the former Germany international Robert Huth has broken a record of his own. The 31-year-old from Berlin played his 269th game in the English top division on Saturday as Leicester recorded a 3-0 win at Swansea City, and in doing so he overtook Dietmar Hamann as the German player with the most appearances in the Premier League.

Huth celebrated his debut in England's top division with Chelsea in 2002, winning a league title in 2005 and 2006. The defender then moved to Middlesbrough and three years later made the switch to Stoke City. He joined Leicester City at the beginning of the current season.

Hamann needed two years less to reach the milestone, with the former Bayern München midfielder making 268 appearances in eleven years for Newcastle United, Liverpool and Manchester City. Number three on the list of Germans in the Premier League is former international goalkeeper Jens Lehmann, who played 148 times between the sticks for Arsenal.
