Germany's Under 21 lose in Portugal

After seven matches without a loss Germany's Under 21 was stopped in Portimao by Portugal on Tuesday. The hosts beat the team of coach Rainer Adrion 4-2 (3-1) and gives them something to work on before the start of the EC qualifiers on August 10 in Cyprus.

Two counterattacks saw the Portuguese 2-0 ahead after just seven minutes, both successfully knocked in by Wilson Eduard (3rd and 7th). Although the Germany stroke back early through a header by Jan Kirchhoff after 14 minutes, Rui Fonte extended the hosts lead again just gbefore half-time (44th).

Only in the dying seconds of the match more goals were added: First Abel struck from 25 metres to make it 4-1 (90th), then Sebastian Rudy cut the lead to two (90th).
