Gerhard Mayer-Vorfelder new DFB president

Gerhard Mayer-Vorfelder was elected as president of the German Football Association (DFB) at the governing body´s 37th Congress in Magdeburg on Saturday. Mayer-Vorfelder successes Egidius Braun, who was appointed as honorary President on Friday evening.

Mayer-Vorfelder has been acting as DFB president since Egidius Braun underwent heart bypass surgery last year. He was the only candidate since Egidius Braun did not seek re-election. Mayer-Vorfelder is the ninth president of the 101-year-old DFB. [mh]
