Favorites make it to next round

All favorites but two made it to Round of 16 of the DFB Cup in Wednesday's matches of the Second Round. Only Second Bundesliga sides MSV Duisburg (0-1 at Karlsruher SC) and Union Berlin (0-2 at Offenbach) fell to Third league teams.

Meanwhile Bayern München, VfB Stuttgart and VfL Wolfsburg showed no mercy with their opponents. Fortuna Düsseldorf won the Rhine derby against Borussia Mönchengladbach 1-0 after extra-time, Hannover against Dynamo Dresden after penalty shootout.

On Tuesday Titleholders Borussia Dortmund and Schalke 04 cruised with ease past their challengers of the Second Bundesliga. Dortmund won 4-1 (2-0) at VfR Aalen, Schalke 3-0 (1-0) against SV Sandhausen.

The Second League sides VfL Bochum and 1. FC Köln had more trouble against teams from the fourth division. Bochum came back from a goal down to win 3-1 (1-1) at TSV Havelse, while Köln won 4-3 after penalties at Wormatia Worms, drawing goalless after 120 minutes.
