Draxler shines in PSG’s dominant victory

Julian Draxler and PSG celebrated an emphatic victory on Saturday, as they beat third placed Girondins Bordeaux 6-2. Draxler started for the Parisians, and played a big role in the win. The 24-year-old got on the scoresheet thanks to a spectacular volley in the 45th minute, before assisting Mbappe in the goal that it 6-1 (58’).

Neymar opened the scoring with a free kick in the 5th minute, before Cavani doubled their lead in the 21st and got another from the penalty spot in the 40th. Bordeaux scored through Younousse Sankhare (31’) and Malcom (89’ pen).

After this thrashing, PSG now lead Ligue 1 with 22 points from a possible 24 and a goal difference of +22. Monaco are their closest competitors, and follow in second place on 19 points. The only points that PSG have dropped to this point came in the goalless draw against Montpellier.

Sané and Gündogan’s Man City triumph over Rüdiger’s Chelsea

Elsewhere on Saturday, Leroy Sané and Ilkay Gündogan triumphed over their compatriot Antonio Rüdiger. In the pick of the games from matchday 7, Manchester City came out on top 1-0 over Chelsea, and with it moved back into first place ahead of their rivals Manchester United. The two Manchester clubs are both on 19 points - only separated by goal difference. Chelsea are in fourth place with 13 points.

It was a very high quality game at Stamford Bridge. Sané started the game for City, and was always a threat on the wing. Antonio Rüdiger put in very strong performance to nullify him. Kevin de Bruyne got the decisive goal, which was a venomous left footed strike into the far corner from 17 metres out. Gündogan saw the pitch after coming on for Sané with seven minutes remaining in the game.
