Dortmund go top after win at rivals Mainz

Borussia Dortmund went back to the top of the Bundesliga on Sunday after a hard-earned 2-0 win at title-rivals Mainz with the winning goals coming from teenager Mario Goetze and striker Lukas Barrios. Dark-horses Mainz were knocked from top spot after being downed by Jürgen Klopp's young guns from Dortmund in a tense affair at Mainz's Bruchwegstadion in front of a sell-out crowd of 20,300. The win gives Dortmund a one-point lead over second-placed Mainz after ten league matches. Hoffenheim went third in the table after beating Hannover 4-0 (1-0) on Sunday evening.

FC Schalke 04 lost 0-1 to western rivals Bayer Leverkusen and dropped to 17th place. Köln beat Hamburg 3-2 as coach Frank Schaefer made his debut in German Bundesliga. Round ten of German Bundesliga was opened on Friday with the clash between defending champion Bayern München and SC Freiburg. Bayern celebrated the 4th win of the season with a 4-2 victory against SC Freiburg.

On Sunday leaders Mainz 05 host second placed Borussia Dortmund for the top clash of round ten. Dortmund-coach Jürgen Klopp began his coaching career with Mainz back in 2001.
