Contract with adidas extended – agreement about free choice of boots

The German Football Association (DFB) and their longterm partners and sponsors adidas agreed to extend their deal until 2014. Negotiations about details will be concluded soon.

According to the new deal adidas will still supply all the kits, training and spartime clothing to all the main DFB men's and women's teams, but enables all players of the national team, women’s national teams and junior national teams to choose their own brand of boots for internationals and, in case of goalkeepers, their own gloves.

In return national team players agreed to co-operate closely with the country’s football association and their partners concerning personal rights. However, the quality of the adidas boots is beyond all question. The deal has no implications on the Bundesliga, because the German clubs have different contracts.

An important part between DFB and adidas has always been supporting underage football in Germany. Thus DFB and adidas have agreed on a joint primary school incentive, in which the national team players will take part. The incentive aims at enabling pupils to have experiences as a team while using the attractive football offers. Thus the programme could support integration and understanding between different cultures.
