Relegated VfL Bochum have extended their unbeaten run to six matches after beating promotion rivals Erzgebirge Aue 2-0 (0-0) in the Monday night game of the Second Bundesliga. Aue missed the possibility to climb to third place.
Hertha BSC Berlin took a 3-2 win against Düsseldorf to reach the top of the table. On Saturday rock-bottom Arminia Bielefeld lose at Energie Cottbus 1-2, Alemannia Aachen beat Karlsruher SC 4-2.
Two promotion candidates started round 19 of the Second Bundesliga with a disappointing draw: Leaders FC Augsburg were held to a 1-1 by SC Paderborn, fourth-placed MSV Duisburg had the same result at relegation-threatened FC Ingolstadt.
On Monday third placed Erzgebirge Aue face a tough test at VfL Bochum.
