Franz Beckenbauer invited the soccer world to come to Germany in 2006 immediately after the presentation ceremony of the 17th soccer World Cup in Korea and Japan. In a 45 second clip which was radiated worldwide and which could be seen also in the stadium of Yokohama over the gigantic video panels the president of the German WC organization committee 2006 thanked the hosts of this year's World Cup in Korean and Japanese.
Prominent partners stood aside Beckenbauer at this action. Federal Chancellor Gerhard Schröder, Boris Becker, Michael Schumacher, top model Claudia Schiffer, and couturier Karl Lagerfeld expressed their pleasant anticipation of the next world tournament.
Between the final whistle in Yokohama and the starting whistle of the World Cup in 2006 are exactly 1439 days. The tournament in Germany shall take place from June 9th till July 9th, 2006.
