Bayern advance to the semis, Schalke beat Nürnberg

FC Bayern München have reached the semi finals of the German Cup. The cup holders celebrated a 4-0 (1-0) win at second division side Alemannia Aachen, who had beaten Bayern twice in this competition (2004 and 2006).

National strikers Mario Gomez (26.), Thomas Müller (75./80.) and Arjen Robben (88.) scored for Bayern.

Two sides of German Second Bundesliga found their way into the semis. Energie Cottbus beat 1899 Hoffenheim after a late goal by substitute Jiayi Shao (84.) 1-0 (0-0). MSV Duisburg celebrated a 2-0 (1-0) win over 1. FC Kaiserslautern. Branimir Bajic (36.) and Goran Sukalo (58.) scored for the winning side.

Four times Cup winner FC Schalke 04 beat league rivals 1. FC Nürnberg 3-2 at extra time to advance in the semi finals of the German Cup for the 19th time on Tuesday.

Nürnberg took the lead twice by two goals of Julian Schieber. Mario Gavranovic and Ivan Rakitic tied the game before 17 year old Teenager Julian Draxler scored the game winning goal in the 119th minute.

Cup holders FC Bayern play at Aachen at Wednesday (8.30 pm), Cottbus host Hoffenheim, Duisburg meet Kaiserslautern (both 7 pm).
