Draxler loses top of the table clash in France

Germany World Cup winner Julian Draxler was on the losing side as his PSG side lost 3-1 to third placed Nice in Ligue 1. Thiago Motta (90+1') and Angel di Maria (90+4') were both sent off in stoppage time for the second placed side in France.

PSG sit three points behind league leaders and Champions League semi-finalists AS Monaco on 80 points in Ligue 1. The side from the French capital have three remaining league games this season; Monaco have one game in hand. Mario Balotelli (26'), Ricardo Pereira (48') and Anastasios Donis (90+3') scored for the team managed by former Gladbach head coach. Marquinhos (64') was on target for PSG. Draxler was substituted off in the 78th minute, while Kevin Trapp played in goal for PSG.

Derby defeat for Özil and Arsenal

Arsenal and World Champion Mesut Özil have lost 2-0 to North London rivals Tottenham Hotspur. In-form Dele Alli opened the scoring in the second half (55’), and Harry Kane make it 2-0 from the spot just three minutes after the opener. The loss also has consequences for Arsenal’s Champions League hopes, as they remain adrift from the automatic qualifying places. However, Arsene Wenger’s team do have a game in hand which they can use to close the six-point gap between them and fifth-place Manchester United.

Sané and City drop points

Manchester City have drawn 2-2 with nineteenth-place Middlesbrough and therefore missed out on two vital points in the fight for the Champions League qualification places against Jürgen Klopp’s Liverpool. The Reds are now level on points with Pep Guardiola’s men in third place. Germany international Leroy Sané was substituted on in the second half when the score was 1-0 to Middlesbrough.

Rüdiger’s Roma lose the Derby della Capitale

DFB Team defender Antonio Rüdiger and AS Roma have lost the Rome derby 3-1, as the German was also sent off in stoppage time at the end of the game. Lazio striker Balde Keita put his side into the lead in the 12th minute, before Roma captain Daniele De Rossi pulled his side level from the penalty spot shortly before half time. Simone Inzaghi’s men came out after the break with intent, and Dusan Basta restored Lazio’s advantage in the 50th minute. Keita then grabbed his second and killed off the game five minutes before the final whistle.

The loss means Roma weren’t able to close the gap on first-place Juventus, who only managed a 1-1 draw with Atalanta this weekend. Instead, the gap has grown to nine points with four matchdays left.
