World Champion Schürrle joins Wolfsburg from Chelsea

Bundesliga side VfL Wolfsburg have completed the deadline-day signing of World Champion André Schürrle. The attacker has agreed a contract with the Wolves until 2019. The transfer fee is undisclosed.

Manager Dieter Hecking expressed his delight at the idea of having Schürrle in his squad before the transfer was complete. “He’s a player that fits in well at Wolfsburg with his dynamism and goal threat,” said Hecking. Midfield star Kevin De Bruyne was also looking forward to the deal being completed: “Any strengthening of the squad is always welcome.”

VfL’s Bundesliga game against Eintracht Frankfurt on 20:00 CET on Tuesday comes around too soon for Schürrle to be involved.
