World champion Toni Kroos is in the Team of the Year 2017, as voted for on the Union of European Football Associations website. The Real Madrid midfielder was voted for by 43.3% of users on the UEFA website, the seventh highest vote percentage received by any player this year. Manuel Neuer and Joshua Kimmich were also included in the voting, but did not make it into the top XI.
The highest vote percentage went to Real Madrid defender, Sergio Ramos, with 73.7% of users voting for the Spanish World and European champion. Former Footballer of the Year Lionel Messi, and the current holder, Cristiano Ronaldo received 59.8% and 55.7% of the vote respectively. This year, almost 800,000 users placed more than 8.7 million votes, a record for the voting competition that began in 2001.
