In the final of the UEFA cup Borussia Dortmund lost against Feyenoord Rotterdam 2-3 (0-2).
In an incident packed final at Feyenoord's De Kuip stadium,
veteran German international Kohler was ejected in the 31st minute
for conceding the penalty that enabled Van Hooijdonk to give his
team the lead.
Van Hooijdonk, who had already hit the post with one of his long
range free kicks, made it 2-0 with another five minutes before half
time before the Germans hit back.
Amoroso rolled in a penalty to halve the lead a minute into the
second half but Jon Dahl Tomasson made it 3-1 three minutes later.
Czech striker Jan Koller volleyed in a second for 10-man
Dortmund in the 57th minute.
