The German Women's National team finished second in the 2010 Algarve Cup. In the final, which took place in Faro, the team of coach Silvia Neid lost 2-3 (1-2) to the USA.
Carli Lloyd (18.) and Abby Wambach (22.) put the US-team 2-0 ahead before Inka Grings scored Germany's first goal late in the first half (40.).
After the break Lauren Cheney made it 3-1 for the United States (69.). Despite the setback Germany didn't give up and managed to get themselves back into the match. Inka Grings scored her second goal of the evening and seventh of the tournament (75.). But in the end it was not enough to prevent the USA from winning their seventh title at the Algarve.
