The kit that history will be written in. Supplier adidas and the DFB present the new away kit which Die Mannschaft will wear to this summer’s World Cup. The green jersey captures the design of the legendary shirt which Germany wore at the 1990 World Cup where they knocked out England in a dramatic semi-final penalty shootout before going on to claim their third World Cup.
“Our home colours will always be white and black but I think we'll definitely catch the eye with this away shirt,” said Julian Draxler on the new jersey. The jagged pattern seen on the home kit is duplicated on the away jersey. Whereas it centres on the chest on the home shirt, the pattern is on the front, arms and collar of the away shirt. The design hints at adidas’ overriding belief regarding their products – “from authenticity to progression.” Moreover, white is worked onto the Die Mannschaft logo. The away shirt will be complimented by white shorts and green socks. Goalkeepers will wear a blue kit.
The away kit will make its debut in the friendly against Spain on Friday in Düsseldorf. It’s available now at the DFB-Fanshop and in adidas stores. It’s in selected shops from March 27th (Mens: 89.95 Euro, Womens: 79.95 Euro, Children: 69.95 Euro).
