One goal, two assists: Sané fires City to victory

Manchester City sit top of the Premier League, with Germany international Leroy Sané playing a significant role in their 5-0 victory over Crystal Palace. The striker put the home side ahead just before half-time in front of Joachim Löw, who was watching from the stands as the Citizens maintained their unbeaten run. They are now joint top of the table with Manchester United after a fifth victory in six, with their rivals winning 1-0 away at Southampton.

Sané, who also provided two assists against bottom-club Palace, scored his third goal of the season in the Premier League after the 21-year-old had also hit two past West Bromwich Albion during the week in the League Cup. After an assist from Sané to set up England international Raheem Sterling (51'), the Citizens piled more misery onto Roy Hodgson’s men to score three more times and leave Palace still without a goal this season.

Chelsea sit in third place behind the Manchester duo after thrashing Stoke City 4-0 away from home. Antonio Rüdiger and co dominated from the outset and the 24-year-old Germany international featured for the entire 90 minutes.

PSG only manage a point

Paris St. Germain were held to a goalless draw four days ahead of their Champions League clash with German record champions Bayern München. World Champion Julian Draxler was unable to help PSG break the deadlock against former Liga 1 champions HSC Montpellier.

Record-signing Neymar was forced to miss out due to a foot injury but he is expected to be back in the squad to face FC Bayern. Draxler was brought off in the 66th minute. PSG, who had won their opening six fixtures of the season, sit top of the table with 19 points ahead of reigning champions AS Monaco on 18 and St. Etienne on 13.
