Oliver Kahn wins FIFA Golden Ball

Germany´s captain Oliver Kahn became the first goalkeeper to win FIFA´s Golden Ball award, it was announced on Tuesday. The 33-year-old, whose saves saw Germany through to the World Cup final against Brazil, obtained 25 percent of votes cast by the world´s football media present at Sunday´s final and the third-place game on Saturday.

Ronaldo, who scored both goals in Brazil´s final victory, was second with South Korea´s Hong Myung-bo third. Michael Ballack received 6 votes and landed on the 9th place.
