Neuer: “Obviously it's not a good result”

The Bundesliga restart featured some dramatic action. DFB.de has gathered quotes from the Germany internationals. Today’s edition includes the World Champions Ginter, Kramer, Schweinsteiger, Boateng and Neuer.

VfL Wolfsburg 4-1 Bayern München

Bastian Schweinsteiger: It wasn’t our day. We often lost our shape when we attacked and they picked us apart relatively easily on the break. That shouldn’t be happening. We need to work out what went wrong and do better in our next match.

Jérôme Boateng: It’s simple – we played really badly. It might be good that it’s happened to us today because it’s a wake-up call. We can’t afford another performance like that. We weren’t aggressive and gave away possession far too easily. We have to take a good, long look at ourselves. We all know we’ll need a vast improvement against Schalke if we’re to make amends for this.

Manuel Neuer: Obviously it’s not a good restart for us. We expected a different outcome and went out there looking for it too. It’s not a catastrophe, but we know we still have a lot to do. We have to put it behind us and look forward. A midweek game is just what we need right now. It would be bad if we were having to wait eight days for the next match. We have to turn it around from here on in.

Bayer Leverkusen 0-0 Borussia Dortmund

Matthias Ginter: Our goal was to win this game. We didn’t manage to do that, but at least we got a point. It was an evenly balanced affair for most of the match. The result is okay. Leverkusen didn’t have any clear-cut chances as we defended well. We have to continue working and try to be a bit more clinical up front. But we can build on our defensive performance.

Marco Reus: We’ve got point from the first game. We have to carry on fighting.

Karim Bellarabi: Obviously, we wanted to get three points today. However, Dortmund did really well. It was a difficult match. We didn’t have a lot of the chances, but the ones we did get were presentable. We failed to score take our chances, so we'll have to be content with a 0-0 draw. Dortmund definitely did their homework.

VfB Stuttgart 0-1 Borussia Mönchengladbach

Max Kruse: It would have left a sour taste in the mouth if they equalised late on because I think we were the better side throughout the 90 minutes.

Christoph Kramer: It was really important to us to get a good start. That doesn’t necessarily imply playing nicely, but means that we wanted to be successful. In the end, we were really lucky when their attempt hit the crossbar. We were just happy when we heard the final whistle.
