Müller advises never to ignore his rule

It was another exciting week of action in the Bundesliga. A host of Germany internationals were involved and they spoke to DFB.de after their respective games. Here’s what Thomas Müller, Bastian Schweinsteiger, Marco Reus and Roman Weidenfeller had to say after their respective games.

Werder Bremen 0-4 Bayern München

Thomas Müller: “There’s an ancient rule: never let me shoot from outside the box with my left foot, but Bremen chose to ignore the rule. No, I just did what I had to do – and my left boot did as it was told. We’re proud to have won so comfortably again. All credit to the team. It was a very good team performance.”

Bastian Schweinsteiger: “It was an intense game and we got an important win in Bremen today. It has been a perfect week. Now we have to recuperate!”

Borussia Dortmund 0-0 1. FC Köln

Marco Reus: “Köln did a good job, we didn’t do a good job. Especially in the first half we didn’t have enough movement and we didn’t use the chances to play into space. It was definitely our fault that the match ended 0-0.”

Roman Weidenfeller: “Köln were clinical on the counter attack. We should have created more chances altogether. It is important that we are solid at the back and that we didn’t concede again.”

Hertha BSC 2-2 Schalke 04

Benedikt Höwedes: “We were the more determined side in the first half. We didn’t sit back after conceding; we played some good football and deserved to go into half time with the score at 1-1. We weren’t on top as much in the second 45, which is perhaps down to the fact that we used up a lot of energy in the game against Real Madrid. We showed character after going behind once again and more than deserved a point.”

Borussia Mönchengladbach 2-0 Hannover 96

Max Kruse: “We put in a good performance and won very comfortably. We still haven’t conceded at home since the winter break, which shows how good we have been at the back and the quality of our team. We could still do better in a few situations going forward and we’ll continue to work on that. Nevertheless, we can definitely build on this performance.”
