Mercedes-Benz Junior Cup live on DFB-TV

Yesterday saw the 2015 Mercedes-Benz Junior Cup kick-off at the Glaspalast Sindelfingen and everything is still up for grabs in the race for the semi-finals. FC Schalke 04, winners in last year’s edition of the traditional indoor tournament, have a good chance of progressing to the final four, much like 2014 finalists Fenerbahce and last year’s third-placed side Manchester United.

The only one of the eight teams to end the preliminary round with three wins from three were Borussia Mönchengladbach, while Celtic and VfB Stuttgart were the only sides that failed to record a victory. Things were to change in the intermediate round though, which saw Borussia suffer a first loss against Grasshopper Zurich (4-2), while VfB beat 1899 Hoffenheim 3-0 to collect their first three points. Celtic remain the only team without a win at all and so can no longer reach the semi-finals on Sunday. The Scottish side are certain to finish fourth in the intermediate round and will contest the seventh-place play-off.

The remaining seven teams are all still fighting for a chance in the semis. Gladbach and Schalke sit on nine points each ahead of their crunch match in Group 1, followed by Grasshoppers (7), who take on Celtic. Group 2 sees Hoffenheim, Manchester United and Fenerbahce all on six points, though Stuttgart have four points and can also progress.

You can watch the events unfold on our DFB-TV live stream. The semi-finals start from 15:00 CET on Sunday, while the final is set to take place at around 17:00 CET.
