Klose: Three games away from a new contract

World Champion Miroslav Klose will be hoping for to spend another year in the “eternal city” with Italian Serie A side Lazio. According to a report in the Corriere dello Sport on Monday, the leading goalscorer in World Cup history will have his current contract extended until 2016 after he makes his 20th appearance of the season.

The 36-year-old made his 17th appearance of the season on Saturday in Lazio’s 3-1 home win against AC Milan. In light of his recent improvement in form- Klose scored his fifth goal of the season against Milan- it seems as if the striker only needs three more appearances this season before it becomes a formality.

“There’s the option of a further year,” said Lazio’s Sporting Director Igli Tare in the Corriere about Klose’s contract situation. The striker, who joined Lazio from German record holders Bayern München in 2011, had his contract extended last May until the end of the current season.
