Germany keeps dreams alive with 2-0 against Cameroon

The German national team has reached the 2nd round with a 2-0 victory against Cameroon in the last preliminary round game of group E. For Cameroon with German coach Winfried Schaefer ended the World Cup 2002 on Tuesday.

In Shizuoka 47.085 saw Germany´s first goal by Marco Bode in the 50th minute. With eleven minutes to go Miroslav Klose decided the game with his fifth goal of the tournament. The German team had to play with ten players after a red card for sweeper Carsten Ramelow in the 40th minute.

Spanish referee Antonio Lopez Nieto showed 12 yellow cards and booked also Cameroon´s Patrick Suffo (77th minute) two times.

Germany now will face the runner-up of group B, where Spain, Paraguay and South Africa are disputing a 2nd round place. The first game of the knock-out stage will take place in Seogwipo on Sunday (8.30 h CEST). created by db
