Germany draw in Sarajevo

The German national team drew 1-1 against Bosnia-Herzegovina in Sarajevo on Friday. Bosnian Elvir Baljic put his side in front in the 21st minute. German striker Carsten Jancker drew the game level in the 56th minute.

Referee Massimo de Santis sent off both Bosnian Hasan Salihamidzic and German defender Christian Woerns (49.), do both sides had to make do with ten players.

The 22-man list of the German squad is valid for the game in Sarajevo and the group five fixture in Hanover five days later (8.30 pm on Wednesday in Hannover / broadcasted live on ARD).

Besides Germany and the Faroe Islands, the teams from Lithuania, Scottland and Iceland fight for the qualification for the European Championship in group 5. The European Championship takes place in Portugal from June 12 to July 4, 2004.

The German team has already won their first qualifier in Kaunas against Lithuania 2-0 (1-0) on September 7, 2002.
