German U 19 women reach bronze medal

The German Under 19 women team reached the bronze medal at the 2002 World Cup in Canada. In the consolation match, Germany beat Brazil 4-3 on penalty kicks after they finished tied 1-1 at regular time. The USA team won the final against host Canada 1-0. Both games were played in Edmonton.

In front of 35,000 spectators it was Cristiane to score for Brazil (33.), but Isabell Bachor made the equalizier shortly after the halftime break (49.). Goalie Miriam Elling had two saves in the penalty kicks und was matchwinner for the German team.

Elling; Stegmann, Bresonik, Günther, Odebrecht, Brendel (79. Richter), Sabel, Mittag, Bachor, Zietz, Krüger.
