In the preparations for the World Cup the German national team suffered a 0-1 defeat by Wales in a friendly at the
Millennium Stadium. It was the second time that Germany was beaten by the Welsh in 13 games since 1968. The only goal
of the game came by Robert Earnshaw. The Welsh striker scored in the first minute of the second half.
Wales have failed to qualify for the World Cup finals starting at the end of this month while three-times champions
Germany play in first-round group E with Saudia Arabia, Ireland and Cameroon.
