Under the chairmanship
of UEFA President Michel Platini, who was elected to the presidency
at UEFA's Congress in Dusseldorf last month, the committee voted in
Senes Erzik (Turkey) as first vice-president, Geoffrey Thompson
(England) as second vice-president, Angel María Villar Llona
(Spain) as third vice-president and Gerhard Mayer-Vorfelder (Germany)
as fourth vice-president.
Marios N Lefkaritis
(Cyprus) was elected as UEFA treasurer and, in addition, was
appointed as member of the FIFA Executive Committee. The seat in
question within the world football body is the European seat vacated
by Michel Platini, because the latter is taking up a seat as
ex-officio FIFA vice-president in his capacity as President of UEFA.
Giangiorgio Spiess
(Switzerland) and Friedrich Stickler (Austria) have been named as
co-opted members of the UEFA Executive Committee until the end of
UEFA EURO 2008™.
The
committee also mandated the UEFA President and treasurer to continue
with their contract negotiations with David Taylor, currently chief
executive of the Scottish Football Association, to replace
Lars-Christer Olsson, who resigned as UEFA Chief Executive last week.
