After final round of Second Bundesliga Fortuna Düsseldorf saved the third place and the promotion games against Hertha BSC. Düsseldorf achieved a 2-2 against MSV Duisburg. Whilethis St. Pauli got a 5-0 success against Paderborn. But it wasn't enough, the goal difference decided between third and fourth place.
At the end of the table four teams used the chance to stay up. Energie Cottbus and Erzgebirge Aue will stay longer in Secound Bundesliga. Cottbus got a 2-1 against Union Berlin, Aue won against Bochum 2-1. At the same time Karlsruhe took a chance to avoid relegation for the moment. Now they had to play against Jahn Regensburg, third of third Bundesliga. For Alemannia Aachen it was the last game in Second Bundesliga.
