Dramatic day in the second division

1. FC Union Berlin picked up their second victory of the season. Norbert Düwel’s side were 1-0 down at half-time against SV Sandhausen thanks to Seyi Olajengbesi’s 24th minute strike. Berlin hadn’t really been at the races in the first-half Düwel’s teamtalk inspired a change in fortunes. The team from the Capital fought back in the second-half and turned the game around thanks to a brace from Sebastian Polter (52’, 80’) and a goal from Sören Brandy (59’).

The other game of the day saw Eintracht Braunschweig and SpVgg Greuther Fürth play out an entertaining 2-2 draw, with all of the goals coming in the second-half. Goals from Marco Stiepermann (59’) and Kacper Przybylko (68’) gave the visitors a 2-0 lead in front of 21,000 supporters but a stunning final 20 from Eintracht rescued a point. Benjamin Kessel scored a brace. His first came in the 72nd minute. It looked like the away side would take the three points, but deep into injury time Kessel scored a header to earn Braunschweig a deserved point.
